History

It is said that Francesco da Carrara, lord of Padua, stayed there that year, leaving an indelible mark by building the city's first fireplace. In 1782, the hotel adopted the name Albergo della Lunetta, a tribute to the crescent-shaped sign that still adorns the facade today, a testament to centuries of hospitality and timeless charm.

During the restoration work on the hotel, a fascinating discovery uncovered the remains of the ancient Theatre of Pompey, inaugurated in 55 BC, which lie beneath its foundations. The imposing Roman walls, silent witnesses to a glorious past, are now visible thanks to the use of glass panels. These panels allow for the appreciation of these valuable historical artifacts, immersing visitors in an atmosphere steeped in history and charm. The panels protect and preserve the walls’ original characteristics, and it is among these walls that the renowned SPA of the Hotel Lunetta is located.
